Normal blood pressure is not ... normal

Need to monitor blood pressure regularly:

A recent study of U.S. shows, in the subjects blood pressure is considered normal, people with this index in the high-normal (above the normal threshold) or cardiovascular disease than the 1.5

* 2.5 times higher than those with optimal blood pressure.

By definition, people with high blood pressure over 140/90 mmHg is considered high blood pressure. Among those with normal blood pressure, we distinguish:

* Optimal blood pressure: 120/80.

* High-normal blood pressure: 130-139/85-89.

Research conducted on 7,000 people during 10 years showed that high-normal blood pressure is susceptible to heart attacks, heart failure and stroke than those with optimal blood pressure. This causes people to rethink the definition of hypertension. Can be selected current threshold is too high.

Although no clinical trials have shown that high-normal blood pressure will lead to lower risk of heart disease, doctors believe that lifestyle changes can help these people improve health, prevent problems related to blood pressure and not using antihypertensive drugs.

Improvement in lifestyle including weight loss (through diet and exercise), reduce salt intake and alcohol consumption in moderation. A further measure is also quite effective fat loss, increased vegetables, fruits, protein and some other important minerals.
